 Lunch atop a Skyscraper

This photograph calls "Lunch atop a Skyscraper" and it was taken by Charles Ebbets on september 20, 1932. The photograph shows a group of 11 workers seated on a girder with their feet dangling 256 meters, on the 69th floor! above the New York City streets. They are having lunch during the construction of the RCA building at Rockefeller Center.
The men haven't any security. They don't have safety harness. They are seated like if were in the dinner room of their house. This picture was taken during the Great Depression, a time when people were willing to take any job regardless of safety issue.

The photographer
Charles Ebbets was born in August 18, 1905 in Gadsden, Alabama. He bought his first camera at the age of eight by charging it to his mother's account at a local drugstore. Ebbets started his career during the 1920s in St. Petersburg, Florida, as a still photographer.
By the 1930s Ebbets was a well known photographer and had work published in the major newspapers across the nation including the New York Times. In 1932, he was appointed photographic director for the Rockefeller Center, which was under construction in New York. In September of that year, he would take the photo which would later define his work, Lunchtime atop a Skyscraper. This picture appeared in the Sunday photo supplement of the New York Herald Tribune on October 2.

I really like this photo because you can see the buildings of New York behind the workers and it's really awesome how they can be so relax at such a high height. In fact, it causes me a little of vertigo. The other thing that I like, it's that they look like if were floating, because the photograph doesn't show the entire girder. Although I like that the picture is in black and white, maybe if was in color, the details could be more appreciated.

Today I'm going to talk about my new favourite serie. It calls Girls.Girls portrays the life of four girls of twenty-somethings that live in New York city. Created by and starring Lena Dunham. The serie begins when the aspiring writer Hannah gets a shock when her parents visit from Michigan and announce they will no longer financially support her as they have done since her graduation from Oberlin College two years before.

Some Characters

Shoshanna Shapiro
I love this character. She is Jessa's bubbly and innocent  american cousin, 21 years old. She is very intelligent and has a math major at New York University. Shoshanna loves the serie Sex & the City, and keeps a poster from the first movie in her apartment. Her "biggest baggage" is that she is a virgin. I like the way she talks (she talks very fast) and express. I think Zosia Mamet, the actress, acts very good, is very believable her character.

Adam Sackler
I love this guy. At the beginning I found him a little freak and crazy but now I think he is very kind and funny. I love his personality. Adam is usually seen in his apartment where he and Hannah have sex, but their relationship deepens over the course of the first season. But then with time they get serious and he becomes her boyfriend.  In the season one finale, he offers to move in to Hannah's apartment but then breaks up with her after he says he loves her, and she doesn't respond.

I think I don't have many technology articles, in fact I only have my computer and my cellphone. I use my computer to study and to be in facebook or to buy some stuff on internet, but in general if don't have to use my computer I use my cellphone, because is more accessible and fast.

So my favourite piece of technology is my iPhone. I got it like two years ago and I use it all the time. I check my emails, I send emails, I take pictures with my iPhone, and also I talk whith my friends using the aplicattion of chat called Whatsapp. I whatch videos and use the aplicattion of facebook and the most important or the thing I use more is to listen music.

I like my iPhone because it has a lot of things in one aparat. Like I said before I can check my emails, browsing on web and listen music, I don´t need a mp3 or my computer if I want to do this kind of stuff.

What life would be like without it
Well like a week ago, the day when it was raining very strong, my iPhone accidentally got wet, and for two days it was turned off. I was a little freak out not because I couldn't listen to music or send emails, but because I couldn't called my parents or friends.
Maybe if I spend more time with out my iPhone I will be like the girl in this picture jajaj
